We are starting this blog to update you all on Noah and Madison's daily progress. We hope you enjoy sharing in their journey with us.

A little history..

On the evening of February 10th, 2006, Mommy started having episodes of 'tightening' after fighting off the stomach flu for the past two days. Around midnight that evening, the tightening became regular, and a call was placed out to the on-call physician covering for Dr. Michelle Hughes. Mommy freshened up while waiting for a callback, convinced that she would shortly be on her way to L&D. No call ever came. Mommy, noticing the intensity and frequency of the tightening increasing, encouraged Daddy to leave with her for L&D of their own accord. En route to Charlton Memorial Hospital, an additional call was placed to the on-call physician, informing him that we were 'on our way'. We arrived at Charlton at about 12:30am.

Once at the hospital, Mommy was hooked up to the monitors, and contractions were showing on a regular basis, approximately every4-6 minutes apart. IV fluids were started and a Turb injection was given. The Turb spaced and weakened the intensity of the contractions, but did not completely stop them. Twenty minutes later, a second injection was given. Again, they were weakened, but not completely alleviated. Mommy's cervix was checked by Dr. Ali, the on-call OB, and it was reported to be, 'high, firm & closed'. Everything looked to be fine. A FFN test had been done earlier on February 10th at Mommy's weekly OB office visit. That test result had been negative.

Everything seemed to be going in the right direction, and it was getting to be the wee hours of the morning. Daddy had not had much sleep all week, because Tori had been ill all week with the stomach flu as well, and a large amount of the responsibilty had fallen upon him to look after her. So, Mommy sent him home to get some rest. It was nearing 4:00am when Daddy kissed Mommy 'GoodBye' and joked that 'no babies were allowed to be born' on his way out the door. Mommy and Mommy's nurse Amy laughed and blew off the comment.

Dr. Ali prescribed some Demerol and Vistaril to help Mommy be more comfortable, and hopefully get some rest. Shortly after receiving the medications, Mommy dozed off for some much needed sleep.

Shortly after 6:30am, Mommy awoke to the strong urge to use the bathroom. Very frequently throughout the pregnancy, a full bladder had meant an uncomfortable episode. So thinking that not much was different or wrong, Mommy unplugged herself from the monitors and set off down the hall to find the bathroom. However, instead of gaining relief from the emptying of her bladder, Mommy became more and more uncomfortable and felt 'wrong, strange and just different'.

Hi Everyone!
